What is the role of the mentor?

Support from a mentor is put in place as soon as students ask. With regular chats, students can build a strong relationship with their mentor for the duration of their studies.

There are several reasons for this:

– to develop their confidence: mentors advise and help students find their way in the professional world and help develop their ambitions. They help in case of any difficulties.
– to discover the business world: mentors share their experiences, imparting the rules of the business world and help them discover new careers.
– to share their professional network: mentors support students in finding an internship or apprenticeship and teach them how to build their own professional network.

What is the role of the CIDJ councilor?

The CIDJ (Center for Youth Information and Documentation) is an association that works to inform, advise and support young people, with or without disabilities, in terms of their questions about studying, careers, pathways, projects, and so on.

The CIDJ network includes some 1,500 organizations across France and Europe, which are supported by the state and local associations.

Through regular meetings, councilors can build a special relationship with students for the duration of their personalized support.

Depending on their wishes, this support can involve pursuing their studies, looking for a job and/or information about everyday things (like finding somewhere to live, understanding your rights, and so on), so as to give students access to their independence.

What is the role of the human resources adviser?

Like the mentors, HR advisers are involved at the student’s request. Their support, provided in a more general way, covers everything from your career plan, resume and application, whether you’re looking for an internship, an apprenticeship or a job. They can also help you with mock interviews. Human resources advisers share their experiences, as well as the rules of working within a company, helping you to prepare for the professional world.

What is the distance learning platform?

A distance learning platform is made available to all students who join the @talentEgal program. As an addition to their school courses, the platform supports them in discovering the business world, training them on a range of rules and the know-how needed for the world of work.

How much do the online courses cost?

Online training is freely accessible and free of charge from the moment you join the program. If you’re supported by a mentor, you can discuss your needs together before finding the appropriate learning modules.

How do I access learning modules?

If you’re a student and join the @talentEgal program, access is included free of charge.
If you’re a @talentEgal student and experience any connection problems, please write to us.

Which language does the program operate in?

Support is available in both English and French, verbally and written, and can be offered in either language to any student on the program at your request. If you want to improve your knowledge of French or English, even if it’s not your mother tongue, it’s a way to improve your abilities by speaking with our partners abroad from partner companies. What is an apprenticeship contract?

It’s a contract between an employer and a student – who will become an employee – where the goal is to allow this young person to receive both theoretical and practical training, with a view to obtaining a state-recognized diploma, or a professional certificate. Apprenticeships are aimed at those aged 16 to 25 years of age, as well as those who are 26 years old and unemployed. The age limits do not apply to those with a legal recognition disability. The contract lets the apprentice receive professional training whilst they work for the employer in exchange for a salary. The apprentice alternates between time spent at the company and time spent at the learning center.

What is a professional contract?

Unlike the apprenticeship contract, a professional contract is part of continuing education, but like the apprentice, the student spent half time in the company and the rest of his / her time at school. It leads to people receiving a professional qualification (diploma, title or professional qualification certificate) that is recognized by the state and/or professional industry. The goal is to bring young people and adults (back) into the workplace.

What is the V.I.E.?

The Voluntary International Enterprise scheme allows French companies to give young people – who come from within the European Economic Area and are aged between 18 and 28 years old when signing the contract – a job abroad for a period of between 6 and 24 months. What is a convention de stage?

A convention de stage is a contract signed by a school, a student who will complete an internship with a company in France, and the company itself. It’s what we call a tripartite contract. This contract outlines the commitments and responsibilities of each of the signatories of the contract. It’s something you need to have before starting an internship in France. Hi, I’m in high-school and looking for a ‘work experience’ internship. Can you help me?

This program helps students who get their high-school diploma at one of our partner schools.
We’ll advise you on how to deal with associations, such as the ARPEJEH, which gives students in high-school the tools to find work experience internships.

What are the requirements for joining the program?

Deciding to be part of @talentEgal is, above all, a personal decision, it’s enough that you:
– demonstrate strong motivation for a career with one of our partner companies
– that you want to study at one of our partner schools, or maybe you’re already there
– and have a disability.

How do I join the program?

To be supported by @talentEgal, make sure you fulfill the three criteria listed above. You can, if you prefer, speak to the disabilities adviser at your school or email us directly at  contact@atalentegal.fr.

When should I (or when can I) join the program?

If you meet the conditions for joining the program, you can join at any time when you’re in higher education.

How much does it cost for a student to be in the association?

The @talentEgal association is free!
Once a student is signed up to the program, they can benefit from every aspect of it, without having to make any financial contributions.

What do the @talentEgal support tools include?

They consist of orientation and mentoring tools to support students throughout their higher education journey, including:

– mentoring : a mentor working for a partner company and a human resources adviser, a foreign language tutor, plus a CIDJ councilor.
– learning: access to distance learning modules for personal development. The online platform is exclusively for students on the program.
– getting into the workplace with help on finding an internship, an apprenticeship or a job.

This support is adapted according to the individual needs of every student.

What kind of benefits are offered to students who join the program?

The @talentEgal program does not provide any financial benefits to students who join the program. Students are supported, whenever they express the need, by a mentor working for a partner company and the members of the association. They may also be supported in administrative processes by a CIDJ adviser. Students benefit from access to specific e-learning lessons (via a distance learning platform), opportunities for internships abroad and support when looking for an internship, placement or job, as well as foreign language lessons with company employees, among other things.

I need help finding somewhere to live or financial support, who should I contact?

Please contact your CIDJ councilor (Center for Youth Information and Documentation) who can help you with these questions. You can also contact your company’s human resources department (support team), if you’re completing an internship or apprenticeship.

I’m a student and already part of the @talentEgal program, who should I contact first?

1. For any questions relating to your company or tasks, speak to your mentor working at the company and/or your manager (if you’re completing an internship or apprenticeship).
2. For any questions relating to your resume, applications or mock interviews, speak to your human resources adviser or personnel department (for those who already have an apprenticeship organized and for any questions about your internship contract).
3. For any questions relating to your everyday life, speak to your CIDJ councilor.
4. For any other questions, speak to members of the Association.

Who is the program aimed at?

What does it mean to have a disability?

According to the French law of February 11, 2005 on equal opportunities and rights, participation and citizenship of people with disabilities, “a disability is considered, in the sense of the law, as any limitation to activity or restriction to participating in life within society incurred in a person’s environment due to substantial, sustained or definitive alteration to one or more physical, sensory, mental, cognitive or psychic functions of that person, whether multi-disabilities or an incapacitating health issue”.

This law guarantees that people with disabilities are recognized, compensated, trained, employed, given access to and enjoy their citizenship, as well as participation, in society.

You may receive RQTH status in France (Recognition of the Quality of a Worker with a Disability), given by the Department for People with Disabilities (MDPH). You may also receive a certificate from the Caisse d’Assurance Maladie (CPAM), attesting to any permanent or partial incapacity (IPP in France) or accident or illness in the workplace (AT/MP in France).

Are there any jobs more accessible than others for certain disabilities?

For our partner companies, it’s only your skills that are important. Modifications are possible within all companies, allowing you to fully integrate within your team.
Here are some examples of possible alterations:
telephones for people who are visually and/or hearing impaired, ergonomic chairs, acoustic equipment, video-conferencing technology with sign language, and so on.

How do I go about getting adaptations in the workplace?

It is your workplace clinician who will trigger the process to find an adapted solution to your situation, having observed the imbalance between your workstation and your disability.

How do I get adaptations during my studies?

For any modifications, you should approach the MDPH, as well as following the process for students with disabilities at your specific school or university and who you need to report such matters to.

Which roles are reserved for people with disabilities at partner companies within the @talentEgal program?

Companies recruit based on skills and your potential for progression. As a result, no roles are specifically reserved for people with disabilities. Each post is open to everyone, and only your skills will make the difference.

Can I enroll at a partner school regardless of my disability?

Our partner schools each have their own recruitment processes. But applications will be handled in the same way, regardless of your disability. Only your skills for the industry you want to join will be considered. Schools will implement everything necessary to welcome and support students who have a disability.

Should I disclose my disability on my resume or application?
